Our Task Teams

1. Legislative and Policy Initiatives

Leads: Phil Caroom, Diamonte Brown

Purpose: This team will define MAJR initiatives and priorities, reflecting input from stakeholders, and work with partners to develop an effective joint approach to implementation; plan and oversee efforts to implement priority initiatives; and coordinate with the Communications team to ensure accurate and timely publicity to stakeholders.

  1. Networking and Building Consensus/Outreach 

Leads: Jerry Mclaurin, Candy Clark

Purpose: This team will plan and conduct activities to connect individuals, organizations, and communities concerned about various aspects of mass incarceration with each other; solicit input and engage diverse stakeholders and service organizations; build consensus on legislation and policy options; plan and conduct external communication and public education to promote understanding of the issues and best practices for change.

3. Communications

Leads: Pat Schenck, Vince Greco

Purpose: This team will plan and conduct internal communication to Coordinating Council and Task Team members, those directly involved in MAJR activities, and the wider group of those who have expressed interest to keep them apprised; ensure the website is updated; produce news blast updates by email and a periodic newsletter; record and post minutes of meetings; and work with Networking and Legislative Teams to design events to reach and inform diverse stakeholders, including decision-makers.
